Hug A Pug A Day
and have less stress in your life
Some people say they are ugly, some say they are sad but if you have a pug you know exactly how cute and loveable they are.
I too used to think they were one of the ugliest dogs but then our daughter got Hercules in November 2008 as a puppy and it was instant pug love. We took him over in March 2009 and had the best of fun and full on pug love. After 3 years he was diagnosed with a heart problem but fortunately, Hercules didn't know it and went on living life to the full, that is until his heart gave up in August 2012.
That's a brief Hercules history and I can guarantee that pugs are the cutest dogs on the planet. You can keep your Alaskan Klee Kai, Beagle, King Charles Spaniel, Chihuahua, Pekingese, Bichon Frise and even your Irish Wolfhound (loveable but too big), give us a pug any day.
What is a Pug?
Pugs were first bred in China and arrived in Europe in the 1700s becoming very popular with royalty in the Netherlands and UK. With their wrinkly flat nosed face and short curly tale they are instantly recognisable. The most popular colour is fawn, followed by black but there are also white pugs.
You'll find more on the 3 pug varieties and their history on our pugs and history pages plus their personality, health issues and how popular they are in media, film and TV and cartoons.
Please visit "Hug A Pug A Day" on Facebook and upload photos of your pug for everyone to admire. You can also suggest additions/omissions from this site and we will update it periodically.
